William Barclay remarked: “All the work of the Church, all the words of the Church and all the sacraments of the Church are inoperative unless the power of the Holy Spirit is there.” That’s spot on!  Because it doesn’t matter how great we’re organized, it doesn’t matter how awesome our services or music are, it doesn’t make a difference how beautiful the building is – we are totally ineffective without His power.  It was the Spirit of God that filled the first century Christians with boldness and power, with wisdom and passion to fearlessly preach the Gospel and partner with God in expanding the church.  Let us too be filled with and empowered by the Holy Spirit!
